Human Resources Group and Individual Incentive Plans Essay
There have been many discussions in business regarding the relative merits or offering group or individual incentive plans. Research shows each option has its merits and drawbacks. Group incentive plans Advantagesà à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à Disadvantages Group bonuses encourage collective effort. 1) Disadvantage the hardest worker Boosts worker morale 2) Can lead to individual resentment Raises lowest worker production levels 3) Reduces production to average levels Encourages teamwork 4) Discourages individual flair Easier to calculate rewards 5) Financial disadvantage for dedication Individual incentive plans Advantagesà à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à Disadvantages Directly impacts on worker pay. 1) Tends to discourage teamwork Individual talent recognized 2) Can cause friction in the workplace Rewards commensurate with effort 3) Creates inequality Improves chances of career advancement 4) difficult to control production Envisaging a position where I will become the owner of a Dance Club, my personal choice of incentive plan would be for the individual method. The reason for this is that in my view the personal and business sides of the human character respond best to a competitive situation. We set ourselves targets to better ourselves, and thus the expectation is that we will be rewarded for this. We strive to be better than others to be the best in our chosen role, and we expect for this to be recognized. Whilst being a team player is important, being recognized for achievement is extremely important. A good example of this can be seen in sport, where soccer players play as a team, but like to be recognized and appreciated for their individual talents.

Make a research on a geography Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Make a research on a geography - Essay Example McDonaldââ¬â¢s dates its origin to the opening of a franchised restaurant by Ray Kroc, in Des Plaines, Illinois in the year 1955, the ninth McDonalds restaurant overall. Ray Kroc in the later years purchased the McDonald brothers equity in the company and launched its worldwide expansion. In fact the company became so popular that with the successful expansion into the international markets it was called as the symbol of globalization. However, in the recent years it was also debated that the company was responsible for spreading unhealthy eating habits and has increased the incidence of obesity and other health problems. Besides, its prominence has also made it a common subject of public debates about corporate ethics and consumer responsibility. McDonalds restaurants are found in about 100-120 countries and territories around the world. In general, it is estimated that it serve nearly 54 million customers each day. McDonalds has become symbolic of globalization and since it is directly identified with United States culture and lifestyle, its expansion into the international market has been pointed out by critics as a part of Americanization and American cultural imperialism. Anti-globalization is a common term used to describe the political stance of people and groups who oppose the aspects of globalization and McDonalds remains a target of anti-globalization protesters worldwide (Wikipedia, 2007). Additionally, filmââ¬â¢s such as ââ¬Å"Super Size Meâ⬠that explores the horror of school lunch programs, declining health and physical education classes, food addictions were also blaming fast food restaurants like McDonaldââ¬â¢s. Even will all these resistance and reparations in the world around, the company has improved and grown with more than 31,800 flagship restaurants serving burgers and fries in different countries and today McDonalds is more than a household name. It is estimated that about 30% of its locations are company-owned

Genzymes CSR Dilemma Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Genzymes CSR Dilemma - Case Study Example All this point out to a dire need in the market for intensive research and development of a new drug for T.B. Genzyme although incapacitated with scarce resources has been able to create good partnership with ââ¬ËThe TB Alliance Partnershipââ¬â¢. The Global Alliance for TB Drug Development provided a highly skilled biotechnology firm. The funding of the partnership by the Gates and Rockefeller foundation provides a sure way of capital funding for the rigorous and expensive venture into the development of an effective drug. Outsourcing the research to pharmaceutical giants such as Bayer and GlaxoSmithKline ensures that appropriate machinery and skill is put into play in the development. With Genzyme vast infiltration into the developing countries, potential targets could be sourced for screening although it would require sufficient funding which was possible with the funding by the two foundations. In the current context of HAND, Genzyme aims at maximizing returns as much as helping people suffering from common treatable but neglected highly infectious diseases. To do this, Termeer should consider the potential for the firmââ¬â¢s resources and capabilities to achieve competitive advantage over their competitors. Termeer should consider using the Resource- Based Model of Above Average Returns (Hitt, Ireland, and Hoskisson 17). This model assumes that every organization should develop its own resources that should be unique into capabilities. These capabilities arise out of integration of resources into a task that should be dynamically managed. These resources and capabilities should serve as a competitive advantage for the firm. This brews core competencies that enable the firm to produce products that are unique and non-imitable in the market place by competitors to give a leverage to the returns. Through practice and continued use of these resources, the firm creates a strong capability to develop new products that
